What is Get to Work™?

Get To Work!™ is a job readiness and retention program for individuals in need of learning and developing employability skills to increase the opportunity for achieving success in the workplace. The program includes – but is not limited to – the following:

  • Understanding Child Labor Laws (Youth Program)
  • Dress Code, Image & Creating Your Brand
  • Cover Letters & Résumés
  • Interview Skills
  • Understanding Your Finances

Whether a youth or adult participant, the Get to Work!™ Program incorporates the following CTAE Standards:

Standard 1.1 - Communicate effectively through writing, speaking, listening, reading, and interpersonal skills.

Standard 1.2 - Demonstrate creativity by asking challenging questions and applying innovative procedures and methods.

Standard 1.3 - Exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills to locate, analyze, and apply information in career planning and employment situations.

Standard 1.4 - Model work readiness traits required for success in the workplace including integrity, honesty, accountability, punctuality, time management, and respect for diversity.

Standard 1.5 - Apply the appropriate skill sets to be productive in a changing; technological; diverse workplace to be able to work independently and apply team work skills.

Standard 1.6 - Present a professional image through appearance, behavior, and language.

We offer live/in-person courses, as well as several online options. The length of the program may be adjusted based on the needs and schedule of the organization and can generally be completed in 4 weeks or less.

Eligibility Requirements

All participants must basic age and income eligibility requirements in order to register for the program.

Youth Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be between the ages of 16-24 years old
  • If the participant is identified as in-school youth, high school or post-secondary, the participant must be between 16-21 years old
  • Must meet low-income guidelines
  • Must be a citizen of, or non-citizen authorized to work in, the U.S.
  • In addition to the above requirements, each participant must also have a barrier to employment.

Adult Eligibility Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be a citizen of, or non-citizen authorized to work in, the U.S.
  • Must meet low-income guidelines
